Hume of Floyd County
John Hume, Sr. was born on 8 February 1798 in Charleston, South Carolina, and died in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia on 19 October 1872. His wife, Ann Mazyck was born 10 July 1818 and died on 14 May 1881. Their plantation, established after 1850 in the second ward of Floyd County (Rome), and was known as Tantatanara (running water) which is located on the Southeast Railroad, two miles north of Rome, and about two miles east of the Oostanaula River. The cemetery is located at 1500 feet northwest of the old home and contains twelve Hume graves including that of John Hume, Sr. and his wife, Ann. Known issue:
- Anne W. Hume, born 18 December 1831, died 13 February 1884.
- John Hume, Jr., born 24 July 1834, died 11 May 1888. Wife, Ariana S., born 6 April 1839, died 6 December 1888. He worked in a machine shop in Rome. Issue:
- James O Hear Hume, born 5 April 1851, died 30 June 1852.
- Leila Ada Hume, born 6 May 1858, died 16 May 1858.
- Thomas Hume, born 1859 in Rome, Georgia, machine shop worker.
- Harriett W. Hume, born 15 July 1860, died 1 May 1862.
- Eliza Hume, born 1865 in Rome, Georgia.
- Charles C. Hume, born 30 October 1867, died 24 July 1876.
- John H. Hume, born 24 June 1870, died 9 July 1876.
- Anna Hume, born 1870 in Rome, Georgia.
- Julia Hume, born 1876 in Rome, Georgia.
- Eddie Hume, born 1877 in Rome, Georgia.
- Isaac Wilson Hume, born 3 May 1836, died 11 July 1839.
