Lemuel Howard of Maryland



Lemuel Howard of Harford County, Maryland removed to Columbia County, Georgia where he died in 1795. He m. Martha Scott in 1760. On 27 Oct 1795, Columbia County, Acquilla Howard deeded to his mother, Martha Howard, for 175 pounds sterling, a 350-acre tract of land on Upton Creek, bounded on all sides by vacant land at the time of survey,originally granted to Isaac Jackson on 7 July 1790, then by him to Acquilla Howard 15 June 1793 .On 16 Nov 1795, Columbia County, Martha Howard, as administratrix of Lemuel Howard, authorized her sons, Aquilla andDorsey, to recover from the Rev. John Coleman, a minister of the Protestant Episcopal Church ofHaerford County, Maryland, the full amount of bonds and interest due to the estate of Lemuel Howard, deceased. Also any other sums which may be due.

Martha died in 1802, her LWT dated 22 July, widow of Lemuel Howard. She named all of her children,and Benjamin Smithson and Peter Ashmore as executors.Issue:

  3. Aquilla Howard d. 1815, his LWT dated 21 Oct 1815, probated 11 Jan 1820, Columbia Co. m. Elizabeth Short in Richmond Co. in 9 May 1790. He named his brother, John Howard, as executor with Mark Price-Davis.

  4. Dorsey Howard d. 1819, his LWT dated 7 Apr 1819, probated 9 Jul 1819 Columbia Co., Ga, m.Fanny Summers on 24 Jan 1809 Columbia Co., Ga. Issue:
    1. Ruthy Howard.

    4. Dorsey Howard, Jr.
  5. Lemuel Howard.
