• Jacob Hiers, b. 1750-1760 Orangeburg District, son of Jacob and Barbara Hiers, German emigrants who lived in German settlement, of Orangeburg, according to Pioneers of Wiregrass by Folks Huxford. Jacob was m. to Catherine Howard and when he died in Catherine m. Duncan Stewart and had by him one child, i. e., Catherine Stewart, b. 1809 S. C. who m. Joseph Smyley. Jacob Hiers served in Revolutionary War as a volunteer in a company from Qrangeburg, commanded by Capt. James Jones. He is listed on 1790 S. C. Census, above district, showing six males under 16 and 3 daus. Issue:
