HENRY S. JACKSON of Tennessee



HENRY S. JACKSON was b. in Memphis, Tennessee in 1862, but the family moved to Nashville in 1878. He was educated at the Southwestern Tennessee College at Jackson, Tenn, and at Vanderbilt University, from which he was graduated. His business career began in Nashville in the office of the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis railroad, but he later became traffic manager of the Baltimore and Ohio, but its office was In Ohio. He remained only three. years in this position and returned to Nashville where he entered the construction business and became active in the construction of waterworks and electric railways. In 1893 Jackson came to .Atlanta as general agent in the freight department of the Southern railway, where he remained for nine years. In 1901 he went into the insurance business. He was president of the State League of Taft Clubs and the organizer of the many Taft clubs throughout Georgia.
