Harper of Ireland and Georgia

William Harper was born 1793 Antrim, Ireland, merchant, and came to Georgia in 1810, settling in Richmond County. He was engaged in the cotton factorage business. He died 1857 in Augusta. On May 1, 1823, in Richmond County, he was married to Mary Ann Caskim (born 1805 Georgia). Issue:

• Harriett Harper born 1837 Georgia.
• Ellen Harper born 1839 Georgia.

• Henry C. Harper born 1843 Georgia.
• Charles A. Harper born February 25, 1845 Augusta, Georgia. He served as a private in Confederate service, in the 12th Georgia Battalion of Artillery; later transferred to the 63rd Georgia Infantry; om 1863 transferred to the signal service in Savannah. In 1872 he married Miss Mary F., the daughter of Hamilton H. Hickman of Augusta. Issue:
