Gunnells of Virginia; Banks, Franklin & Wilkes Counties



Daniel Gunnells was a native of Virginia, and came to Georgia, to settle on a Wilkes County farmer. Issue:[1]
  1. Joel D. Gunnells, farmer and preacher, resided at Banksville, in Banks County. He was raised on a farm and served as county clerk of the superior court, receiver of tax returns, and was a member of the Board of Education; also represented the county in the general assemply. He married (1) on 16 December 1851 in Franklin County, Martha E. Parks (born 15 March 1833 in Franklin County), the daughter of William J. and Naomi (Prickett) Parks, and second (1) 1885, Permelia Parks (born 1830 in Franklin County), the daughter of Leroy and Mary (Anderson) Parks. Issue:
  1. John F. Gunnells, born 1862 in Banks County.
  2. Sarah A. Gunnells married T. B. Neese.
  3. Nancy N. Gunnells, married A. J. Holbrook.
  4. Georgia A. Gunnells married John S. Varner.
  5. Columbus L. Gunnells, born 1864 in Banks County.
  6. Joel H. Gunnells, born 1869 in Banks County.
  7. Daniel B. Gunnells, born 1871 in Banks County.
  8. George P. Gunnells, born 1874 in Banks County.
