John Gordon was born ca 1719 and married on 15 September 1739 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, Margaret, the daughter of Dorothy Tennant. His LWT dated Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, 13 December 1748, probated on 6 February 1749, named his wife and daughters, Catherine and Isabella. In 1741, John Gordon, Jr. was appointed the guardian of Sarah Roy, orphan of James Roy. In 1794, he was appointed the guardian of Thomas Roy in Spotsylvania County. Issue:
John Gordon, born 7 February 1734, died 1766 in Spotsylvania County, married Elizabeth. Sarah Gordon was the administratrix of the estate of John Gordon, deceased, on 4 August 1766, and Nancy was named as an orphan. Issue:
- Samuel Gordon, Revolutionary War Soldier, born 1750/1755 in Spotsylvania County, died 1805 in Jefferson County, Georgia. He removed to South Carolina with his brother, Thoma Gordon, after the death of their father, and was listed on the 1790 Greenville County Census. His LWT dated 13 December 1798, probated 19 January 1805 in Jefferson County, Georgia Will Book A, named his wife, Sarah (and children, viz: John, Sarah, Mary, Betty Ann and Jane).
- Thomas Gordon, born 12 December 1758 in Spotsylvania County, died 1826 in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He married married 1777 Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Mary Buffington (born November 1760 in Chester County, Pennsylvania), the daughter of Joseph and Mary Buffington. Thomas served in the American Revolution. SEE GORDON.
