Gober of North Carolina and Georgia

William Gober was born 1721, died August of 1794 in Oxford, Granville County, North Carolina. He married Nancy Meakins, born 16 April 1720, died 12 December 1785 in Granville County, North Carolina, a daughter of George Craddock Meakin and his wife, Nancy Elizabeth. The family came from Virginia into North Carolina, then to Georgia. Two branches of the family ended up in Georgia. Issue:

• George Gober, born 1740 in Granville County, North Carolina, died February 1786 at Oxford, Granville County. He married Martha Wisdom who died 1807 in Granville County. Issue:
  1. Thomas Gober, born 29 July 1763 in Granville County, North Carolina, died 17 June 1846 in DeKalb County, Georgia. He married Mary Akin, born 13 July 1766 in Granville County, North Carolina, died 26 December 1842 in DeKalb County, Georgia, daughter of Isom Akin. Issue:[1]

     1. George Wisdom Gober, born 5 May 1795 in Granville County, North Carolina, died in November 1881 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas, buried in the Barnham, Texas. He married Mary Ann Gober, born 6 February 1797 Franklin County, Georgia, died 26 June 1863 Greenville, Hunt County, Texas, buried in the McWright Cemetery, a daughter of William Gober and his wife, Elisabeth (Burns) Gober. He removed from Franklin County to Cobb County the latter part of 1832. They resided in Cobb County until 1851 when they removed to Texas. Issue:

        1. Elizabeth Burns Gober, born 5 January 1817 in Franklin County, Georgia.
        2. Thomas Asberry Gober, born 7 January 1820 in Franklin County, Georgia, died 6 February 1900 in Cobb County, buried in the Citizens Cemetery, Marietta, Cobb County.
        3. William C. Gober, born 14 October 1821 in DeKalb County, Georgia, died 23 November 1912 in Milburn, McCullough County, Texas, buried in the Antelope Cemetery, in San Saba, Texas.
        4. Martha M. Gober, born 26 February 1824 in DeKalb County, died 1906.
        5. John Wesley Gober, born 14 March 1826 in Marietta, Cobb County, died 23 February 1905 in Denton, Denton County, Texas, buried in the Loof Cemetery. Wife, Mary A., born 1826 in Georgia. Issue:

           1. Martha L. Gober, born 1858 in Texas.
           2. Felix A. Gober, born 1861 in Texas.
           3. Stonewall J. Gober, born 1863 in Texas.
           4. Gober Gober, born 1868 in Texas.

        6. Mary Hill Gober, born 22 November 1827 in Georgia, died 27 January 1891.
        7. George Wisdom Gober, born 22 July 1830 in Georgia, died 7 October 1895 in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas, buried in the Loof Cemetery. Wife, Ann M., born 1833 Georgia. Issue:

           1. James R. Gober, born 1863 in Texas.
           2. Sally F. E. Gober, born 1868 Texas.
           3. John S. Gober, born 1870 Texas.

        8. James Fletcher Gober, born 19 March 1835 in Cobb County, Georgia, died 16 January 1892.
        9. Rithia Melvina Gober, born 21 February 1837 in Cobb County, died 1883 in Fannin County, Texas, buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove, Texas.
        10. Marion Frederick Parks Gober, born 25 July 1841 in Cobb County, died 3 April 1898 in Tulia, Swisher County, Texas.

        Burl A. Gober, born 6 February 1797 in Granville County, North Carolina, died 6 September 1841.

        Thomas Craddock Gober, born 27 November 1800 in Georgia, died 31 December 1856 in Quitman, Wood County, Texas.

        Isom Akin Gober, born 25 December 1803 in Georgia, died 1879 in Grove Hill, Fannin County, Texas.
