Gober of North Carolina and Georgia
William Gober was born 1721, died August of 1794 in Oxford, Granville County, North Carolina. He married Nancy Meakins, born 16 April 1720, died 12 December 1785 in Granville County, North Carolina, a daughter of George Craddock Meakin and his wife, Nancy Elizabeth. The family came from Virginia into North Carolina, then to Georgia. Two branches of the family ended up in Georgia. Issue:
- George Gober, born 1740 in Granville County, North Carolina, died February 1786 at Oxford, Granville County. He married Martha Wisdom who died 1807 in Granville County. Issue:
- Thomas Gober, born 29 July 1763 in Granville County, North Carolina, died 17 June 1846 in DeKalb County, Georgia. He married Mary Akin, born 13 July 1766 in Granville County, North Carolina, died 26 December 1842 in DeKalb County, Georgia, daughter of Isom Akin. Issue:[1]
- George Wisdom Gober, born 5 May 1795 in Granville County, North Carolina, died in November 1881 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas, buried in the Barnham, Texas. He married Mary Ann Gober, born 6 February 1797 Franklin County, Georgia, died 26 June 1863 Greenville, Hunt County, Texas, buried in the McWright Cemetery, a daughter of William Gober and his wife, Elisabeth (Burns) Gober. He removed from Franklin County to Cobb County the latter part of 1832. They resided in Cobb County until 1851 when they removed to Texas. Issue:
- Elizabeth Burns Gober, born 5 January 1817 in Franklin County, Georgia.
- Thomas Asberry Gober, born 7 January 1820 in Franklin County, Georgia, died 6 February 1900 in Cobb County, buried in the Citizens Cemetery, Marietta, Cobb County.
- William C. Gober, born 14 October 1821 in DeKalb County, Georgia, died 23 November 1912 in Milburn, McCullough County, Texas, buried in the Antelope Cemetery, in San Saba, Texas.
- Martha M. Gober, born 26 February 1824 in DeKalb County, died 1906.
