Gignilliat of Cobb County

 

NORMAN GILBERT GIGNILLIAT was born 9 December 1839 in Darien, Georgia and came to Marietta where he was a dry goods merchant. He was married on 24 November 1858 to Harriet Singleton Shrine (born 29 May 1840 in North Carolina). He was the son of Norman Page Gignilliat and his wife, Charlotte Gignilliat TGrezevant and descends from the old Gignilliat family from Switzerland and McIntosh County, Georgia. A detailed history is contained in the book History of the Gignilliat Family of Switzerland and South Carolina, The Gignilliat Home was located at 111 Cleveland Place in Marietta. It was sold in January of 1913 for the purpose of being divided among the heirs and included two large lots, as well as 150 feet frontage for the old home. Norman died ca 1913 in Marietta.

Daniel S. Gignilliat, born 15 October 1872 in Georgia, died 1905, unmarried.

Willie Shrine Gignilliat, born 15 March 1874 in Georgia, died ca 1934 (twin).

Daniel Bessie Gignilliat, born 15 March 1874, died 15 March 1874 (twin).

George Warren Gignilliat, born 1875 in Georgia.

Eugene S. Gignilliat, born 2 November 1878 in Marietta, died 21 April 1933, married (1) Irene (2) Estelle.

John H. Gignilliat, born 1879 in Marietta, died 1 June 1931 married Nellie Woodward.
