Freeman of Virginia and Georgia
Holman Freeman, Sr., a son of George Freeman of Henrico County, Virginia, and was born 1728 in Virginia, and died 1784 in Wilkes County. He served in the Revolutionary War, and was married to Sally Cox.
Issue:
- Holman Freeman, Jr. born ca 1748 in Goochland County, Virginia, served during the Revolutionary War under Gen. Elijah Clarke, at siege of Augusta, served throughout the war. Also a Soldier of the War of 1812, Colonel of a Battalion. He was married ca 1783 to Peninah Walton, sister of Josiah Walton of the Broad River Settlement, born in Virginia, died in Alabama. Her husband died in Wilkes County in 1817, and thereafter, she removed to Alabama.
- George Freeman was born in Virginia in 1758 and married Frances Taylor, removed to Wilkes County. In 1772, he served under Gen. Elijah Clarke in Ga. Militia, at siege of Augusta. He died in Wilkes County,
12 May 1796. Frances, the widow, was listed on 1805 Land Lottery of Ga., in Wilkes County She died in 1820. Issue:

- Joseph T. Freeman, born 1785 in Virginia, married Polly (born 1795) (Second wife?), listed 1850 Clarke County, Ga. Census, p. 32. Issue by Polly:
- Wiley Freeman b. 1835 Ga.
- Thomas Freeman b. 1835 Ga.
- James J. Freeman b. 1840 Ga.
- William Freeman was deceased by 1805 when his orphans drew in the Land Lottery, residents of Wilkes County.
- John Freeman married Catherine Calloway. He died in 1806, according to McCalls Roster of Revolutionary War Soldiers in Georgia. Catherine Freeman died in 1837, Clarke County, but I could not find this estate record, except in the indexes.
