Comments: The results of this study are inconclusive, and are based
on the overall comparisons of family migrations, and scant Clarke
Co. Records. I have examined quite a few records on this
lineage and believe (undocumented) Frederick James Freeman to be
the son of -
Joseph T. Freeman b. 1785 VA, m. Polly b. 1795 Ga. (Second wife?),
listed 1850 Clarke Co., Ga. Census, p. 32. Issue by Polly:
- Wiley Freeman b. 1835 Ga.
- Thomas Freeman b. 1835 Ga.
- James J. Freeman b. 1840 Ga.
Joseph T. Freeman was the son of -
George Freeman b. Va. 1758 m. In Va. Frances Taylor, removed to
Wilkes Co., Ga. In 1772, served under Gen. Elijah Clarke in Ga.
Militia, at siege of Augusta. He d. Wilkes Co., Ga. 5/12/1796.
Frances, the widow, was listed on 1805 Land Lottery of Ga., in
Wilkes Co. She d. 1820. Issue:
- Wesley Freeman.

Issue:
- Holman Freeman, Jr. b. In Va., served during the
Revolutionary War under Gen. Elijah Clarke, at siege of Augusta,
served throughout the war. Also a Soldier of the War of 1812,
Colonel of Batt. He m. Ca 1783 Peninah Walton, sister of Josiah
Walton of the Broad River Settlement, b. In Va., d. In Ala. Where she
removed after her husband;s death in Wilkes Co.
- George Freeman (above).
- William Freeman. Decd by 1805 Ga. Land Lottery when his
orphans were listed in Wilkes Co.
- John Freeman m. Catherine Calloway. He d. 1806
according to McCall's Roster of Revolutionary War Soldiers in
Georgia.
- James Freeman.
LWT of John Freeman in Clarke Co. Will Book B, p. 225 who left his
wife land and plantation of 140 acres, naming negroes (Rochester,
Sarah). Dau: Welthea Henson. Dau: Polly Jones, dau. of John Jones.
Wife: Sarah. Probated May Term of 1845. This John Freeman was
listed on 1830 Clarke Co., Ga. Census.
There is a probate record of Catherine Freeman 1837, Clarke Co.,
which I could not find.
Holman Freeman, Sr. was son of - George Freeman of Henrico Co.,
Va.

Frederick J. Married. Harrison H. Freeman m. Cassey Snow
7/10/1831, James F. W. Freeman m. Amanda L. E. Gordon
3/1/1838, Johnson Freeman m. Easther Traywick 6/4/1819, and Laban
T. Freeman m. Elenor T. Brown 12/28/1819.
Hartwell Freeman was listed on the 1805 Ga. Land Lottery as being a
resident of Clarke Co. There was a lawsuit brought by William
Hitchcock vs. Jacob Williams and Heartwell Freeman in
1815, filed Box 5 (1755-01), 1800-1895, Inferior Court, Clarke Co.
By 1830, Heartwell Freeman was listed on the 1830 Franklin Co., Ga.
