  6. Porter Fleming was born 27 Nov 1808 in Lincoln County, died on 9 Sept 1891 Augusta, Richmond County, Ga. He was reared on the family plantation in Lincoln County, and in 1830, established a mercantile business. He married 1st, Martha Fleming on 20 June 1835, Richmond County, Ga., and 2nd, Catherine Bertha Moragne (born 1824) from Abbeville, S. C., of Hugenot origin. Porter settled in Augusta, engaging in merchandising and had a cotton factory in Augusta until his death in 1891. Issue:

     1. William Henry Fleming, attorney, lived Augusta, Ga., born 18 Oct 1856. In 1877 he was elected superintendent of the public schools in Augusta; in 1880, resident of Summerville in 1880; he was the County School Commissioner; admitted to the Bar in November of 1888; elected to the General Assembly in 1888-1889, serving until 1894. He married on 22 August 1900, Celeste Ayer of Rome. Their residence was 2631 Walton Way, in Augusta. Issue: William C. Fleming and Virginia A. Fleming.
     2. Frank E. Fleming was born January 12, 1854 in Augusta, formed the banking firm of Fleming, Thomas & County. He married in 1891, Miss Lila Twiggs.
