Fitzpatrick of Virginia and Morgan County


William Fitzpatrick came from Ireland to Virginia, his LWT probated 9 August 1764 in Albemarle County. Wife, Sarah, and sons Issue: [1]
  1. Benjamin Fitzpatrick, born 1746 in Virginia, died 21 November 1821 in Morgan County, Georgia, his LWT dated 25 November 1819, probated 10 November 1821 in Morgan County (Wills Book B, pp. 96-97). He married (1) Mary Perkins in Goochland County, and, (2) Sarah Jones in Albemarle County, Virginia on 5 April 1784. He served during the Revolutionary War. His widow, Sarah, received a land grant for his service, being Lot 246, 30th District, 1st Section of originally Lee County, Sarah being the widow of Benjamin Fitzpatrick, Revolutionary Soldier, in Beasleys District, Morgan County (now in Schley County), dated 28 November 1823. He is buried one mile south of the Georgia Railroad, near Buckhead, on the edge of the wood, in Morgan County. Issue by 1st wife:
    i. Infant son born 15 September 1780. NOTE: Infant son of Benjamin Fitzpatrick registered in the Douglas Register.
    ii. Constantine Fitzpatrick, born 22 June 1781, died 8 October 1843. He married Mary Perkiins (born 23 October 1778, died October 1850). Issue:
    a. Sarah Fitzpatrick married Tom Cook on 6 July 1814 in Morgan County.
    b. Elam Fitzpatrick married Mary Harwell.
    c. Zeno Fitzpatrick married Louisa Maria Holland.
    d. Mary Frances Fitzpatrick married Peter Wyche Walton.
    i. Frances Fitzpatrick married Temple Stewart.
    iii. Nancy Fitzpatrick, born 1783, died 1834, married (1) John Starke (2) John High in 1813.
    Issue by 2nd wife:
    iv. Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, born 6 March 1785, married Samuel Clay.
    v. William Fitzpatrick, born 4 October 1786, died 1826, married Nancy Green, daughter of Captain William and Ruth (Hunter) Green. Issue:
    a. Benjamin Fitzpatrick, born 13 January 1822 in Greene County, died 21 July 1884/5. He married Elizabeth J. Burton on 31 October 1849, and removed to Chambers County, Alabama.
    v. Joseph Fitzpatrick, born 17 September 1788 in Morgan County, died 19 October 1830 in Harris County. He married on 12 July 1810 in Greene County, Nancy Hunter, daughter of Elisha and Rebecca Hunter. Issue:
    a. Joseph Nathaniel Fitzpatrick married on 22 December 1846 Sarah H. Bodeford in Chambers County, Alabama. No issue.
    b. Mary Elizabeth Fitzpatrick married John Henry Shanks.
    c. Julia Ann Fitzpatrick, born 1809, died 16 August 1907, married John Johns Farris on 19 June 1825 in Morgan County.

    vi. Alexander Hunter Fitzpatrick, a soldier of the War of 1812, was born 4 July 1791, died 27 October 1849. He married Nancy Hill on 27 February 1813 in Morgan County. She died 14 May 1875 at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth, in Saline County, Texas. Issue:
    a. Elizabeth Fitzpatrick married William Langford, died ca 1880 in Saline County, Texas.
    b. Benjamin F. Fitzpatrick married Elizabeth Moore. He was a Colonel in the Confederate Army.
    c. Amanda Fitzpatrick married Burrell Green.
    d. Sarah Fitzpatrick married Henry Laws.
    e. Nancy Fitzpatrick married Tom Camander.
    f. Mary Fitzpatrick married Burrell Green.
    g. Alexander Fitzpatrick, killed as a Confederate in the War Between the States.
    h. Marion Hill Fitzpatrick married Amanda White. He was killed during the War Between the States, at the last battle of Petersburg, Virginia.
    i. James C. Fitzpatrick married Julia Taylor.
    vii. Jesse Fitzpatrick, born 27 March 1796, died 14 February 1865 in Chambers County, Alabama. He married (1) Nancy Malinda McGowan (2) in Chambers County, Alabama, Martha Talbot, the widow of Jesse Phillips.

    x. Mary Fitzpatrick, born 20 September 1803 married Thomas Brown.
  2. William Fitzpatrick, born 1744, died 1823, married Celia Ann Phillips. He was found in Georgia in 1786 when Benjamin Fitzpatrick of Fluvanna County, Virginia, attorney for William Fitzpatrick of the State of Georgia, deeded to John Depp, 400 acres on the branches of Briery Creek. Issue:

    3. William Fitzpatrick married Evalina Wasmer.

    6. Celia Fitzpatrick married William Owen Baldwin.
    7. Nancy Fitzpatrick married Benjamin Baldwin.
    8. Elizabeth Fitzpatrick married Mr. Evans.
    9. Benjamin Fitzpatrick, born 30 June 1802, died 21 November 1869.
  3. Joseph Fitzpatrick, Jr. married Elizabeth Jones. His LWT dated 16 October 1811, probated January 1812, Greene County. Issue:
    1. Sarah Fitzpatrick married Lachlan Bethune of Greene County.
    2. Rene Fitzpatrick married (2) Polly Watts, widow, on 15 January 1816 in Greene County, Rene Fitzpatrick and had issue. See WATTS. He married (3) Mildred Mahon. He removed to Karnack, Texas where he purchased a plantation from the Republic of Texas in 1840.
    3. Joseph Fitzpatrick married 12 September 1823 in Wilkes County.
    4. Mary Fitzpatrick married Edward Pate.
    5. Lucy Fitzpatrick married John B. McCoy.
  4. Booth Fitzpatrick, born ca 1762 in Goochland County, Virginia, died ca 1825 in Georgia. He married Elizabeth Brown. Booth Fitzpatrick is credited with being the first white man in Morgan County (1795) and having built the first log cabin. "Booth Fitzpatrick roams over most of the portion of that now embraced in Buckhead District, then recrosses the river into the County of Greene He goes to the home of his brother Benjamin Fitzpatrick, who at that time lived on the headwaters of the Ogeechee, at or near the present village of Union Point, spread the news of his recent trip into the territory of the Creeks and excited the spirit of adventure, in those fond of the chase, by telling of the splendid hunting grounds, and super-abundance of grain, the wonderful fertility of the soil and the vegetation it produced with tropical profusion and luxuriance."   5. Rene Fitzpatrick, born in Goochland County, Virginia, died 1839 in Greene County. He married on 9 April 1797 in Albemarle County, Virginia, Mary Hardwick. The LWT of his father bequeathed "my sons, Booth and Rene Fitzpatrick, the land, mill and plantation on which I now live containing 300 acres; also an entry of land I have on Middle Creek and another on North River.". Rene Fitzpatrick was a tax collector in Greene County in 1798, and served on the Executive Council of the House of Representatives from Greene County in 1789. He was Clerk of the Inferior Court from 1770 to 1791, and attended the Convention of 1832 in Heard County. Cynthia Hardwick Fitzpatrick, born 15 February 1798. Issue:
