Fisher of Muscogee, Twiggs & Washington Counties
Reverend Charles Fisher of Washington County, born ca 1790, was in Washington County as early as 1805 and was listed on the 1820 Census with 4 sons and 4 females. He married Mary Helms (born 1793, died 10 June 1877) on 2 October 1810. [1]"Rev. C. F. Fisher was one of Chattahoochee Counties wealthiest men during slavery days. His stately home on his plantation near the river, 17-1/2 miles from Columbus,was burned in later years, by order of county authorities after an epidemic of smallpox there. The first record found of land bought in Muscogee (Chattahoochee County) was December 18, 1838." History of Twiggs. County.
