Finch
Charles Finch was born 27 October 1728 in New Kent County, Virginia and died in Oglethorpe County in 1795. He was the son of John Finch (born 20 March 1698) and his wife, Sabra Stroud. His LWT was dated 13 January, probated 5 March 1795 in Oglethorpe County. He named his wife, Joyce, to whom he gave his whole estate...." then to be divided among my surviving children." Son: Berdit Finch, a negro boy, Ned. Executors: Wife, Joyce, Richard Copeland, Matthew Talbot. Witnesses: John Lumpkin, John Grisham, Robert Finch. Charles Finch married Joyce Moss. Known issue:

- William Finch. Oglethorpe Co. Will Book D, page 248. LWT of William Finch dated 26 February 1845, probated 12 November 1849, named sister, Sarah; brother, Charles, nephew, William Brown; brother, Burdit, and sister, Elizabeth Drake. Another LWT for the same William Finch, this was recorded in Book D, page 315, dated 20 September 1828, recorded 6 June 1854. It named his wife, Polly and Frankey Brown, Nancy Zuber, John E. Finch, Mahaley Brown, Sarah Finch, William Finch, Jesse Finch, Burdit Finch, Charles Finch and Betsy Drake.
- Charles Finch. His LWT dated 18 May 1853, probated 12 September 1853, Oglethorpe Will Book D, paage 301, naming friend Dr. Samuel Glenn, to whom he gave residual of land, 313 acres in Oglethorpe Co., 165 acres in Gilmer Co., and Negroes.

Oglethorpe County Deeds
Deed Book D, page 37. William Finch, Charles Finch and Burdit Finch, sons and heirs of Charles Finch, late of said county, deceased, are entitled under the "will of our grandfather, Thomas Moss of New Kent Co., Virginia to part of the estate in possession of deceased." Charles Finch, when he died and part of it disposed of by him in his lifetime and not having a copy of the will of our grandfather, Thomas Moss, deceased, and wanting to do what is right for each of us as legatees under that will....we agreed that the heir at the time of the death of our mother, Joyce Finch, who is interested during her natural life shall draw one half of the property or estate, both real and personal. That one or the whole may be entitled to and the other two one half, which half shall be equally divided between the two last mentioned which shares when recovered shall remain to the within named parties agreeable to these articles. Date: 30 March 1801.
