Earnest of Carroll, Clarke, Jones & Meriwether Counties
George Earnest was born 20 May 1762, died 31 December 1840. He married Catherine White on 26 April 1782, the marriage bond being signed by William White, Sr. Catherine was born on 11 April 1761, died after 23 August 1858 in Louisa County, Virginia. George enlisted at the age of sixteen as a Private in the Virginia Infantry Militia at the Hanover Court House. His pension as a Revolutionary War Soldier was dated 14 September 1833, Meriwether County, Georgia, aged 71 years. Issue:[1]
- Hezekiah Geriah Earnest of Meriwether County, later Tennessee.

- Elisha Earnest was born 26 January 1797, died 2 April 1892 in West, Alabama, buried at Greenes Chapel. He married Priscilla Williams, who was born 6 March 1795 in North Carolina, died 8 March 1860 in Carroll County, Georgia, buried at the Smyrna Methodist Church (no marker). Issue:
- Thomas Richard Earnest, born 16 December 1828 in Clarke County, Georgia, died 23 February 1907 in Carrollton, Carroll County, Georgia. He married on 8 January 1852, Sarah Walker Grant (born 20 November 1833 in South Carolina, died 9 January 1911 Carrollton), the daughter of Gregory Grant and his wife, Lucinda H. (Davis) Grant. Issue:
- Matthew Gaston Earnest, born 18 February 1873 Carroll County, died 15 May 1944 Carroll County, married on 19 December 1900, Susie Matilda Pitman (born 14 January 1884 in Newnan, Coweta County, died 30 July 1959 in Carroll County). Issue: Minnie Lee Earnest, born 4 August 1906 in Carrollton, Georgia, unmarried.
- George Earnest, Jr. Jones County Court of Ordinary, 7 November 1821. " Asa and Nancy, heirs of George and Mary Earnest, resided during the year of
1783 in temporary fortress erected in Washington County for protection from
hostilities of the Creek Indians. Two bay mares were stolen by the Indians, she subscribed and gave affidavit for credit to be given, as her father never received
money for the same. Mary Earnest and her husband resided together with two
other persons in 1783 in Washington County. Asa Earnest and Mary, Nancy Eiland
and Sarah Phelps, their father, George Earnest, all of the upper part of the State adjacent to the Carolinas, including counties o f Franklin and Washington."
