Dunn of Surry County, Virginia and Georgia
William Dunn was born ca 1765/1770 in Virginia, a son of Waters Dunn. He married in 1788, in Greene County, Anne Thompson. They removed from Columbia County to Franklin County, where he died in 1813. Issue:[1]
I. William Dunn, Jr. of Crawford County, was born 1790 on the Tugaloo River in South Carolina. William and his father were quakers who resided in Essex County, Virginia for many years. Columbia County Deed. 30 May 1797, Waters Dunn, Sr. to William Dunn, 4 negro slaves. "The said William Dunn shall let Milly Satterwhite, wife of William Satterwhite, receive all profits from the labor of said slaves. The increase of said slaves shall go to Sally, William, Thomas, Betsy, Nancy and Polly Dunn at the death of said Milly." William, Jr. married Elizabeth (born 1800) and they were listed on the 1840-1850 Crawford County Census. Issue:
A. Rebecca Dunn married Jeremiah Hatcher on 23 December 1841 in Crawford County.
B. Isaac Dunn, born 1810/1820 married on 15 December 1842, Nancy Sandefer in Crawford County.
C. James Dunn, born 1810/1820 married Lucinda Hattaway on 7 February 1845 in Crawford County.
D. Jesse Dunn, born 1825 Georgia, planter, listed on the 1850 Crawford County Census with wife, Eliza (born 1825). Issue:
1. T. D. Dunn (son), born 1848.
2. L. A. Dunn (son, born 1850.
E. M. A. Dunn, born 1825 Georgia married Mr. Walton.
F. John Dunn, born 1830 Georgia.
G. William Dunn, born 1833 Georgia.
H. W. Jackson Dunn, born 1836 Georgia, resident of Crawford County in 1860. Wife, E. T. (born 1838 Georgia). Issue: John W. Dunn, born 1857 Crawford County.
