9. William Drane, Revolutionary War Soldier, was b. 14 Jul 1756 Prince George Co., Maryland, d. 6 Feb 1847, m. Cassandra Magruder (13 Sept 1768-9 Jul 1860), daughter of Ninian Bell Magruder and his wife, Rebecca Young, on 31 Oct 1792, Columbia Co., Ga. Ninian Magruder owned 1300 acres on the Kiokee and Uchee Creek, and William Drane settled nearby. Cassandra Drane, wife of William Drane, was named as one of the daughters of Ninian Bell McGruder (His LWT dated 17 Oct 1801, probated 9 May 1810, Columbia Co., Ga). On 12 June 1799, William Drane purchased from John Reeves for $50, a 30-acre tract in Columbia Co., Ga., located on the waters of the Great Kiokee, adj. Drane's land. William Drane had a daughter, Allethea Drane who m. John Reeves (his LWT dated 16 Sept 1833, probated 25 Nov 1833 Columbia Co.) Issue:

   A. William P. Drane b. 30 Jan 1800 Columbia Co., Ga., d. 4 April 1868.
   
   B. Stephen Drane b. 20 Feb 1797 Columbia Co., Ga., d. 19 Nov 1880, his LWT dated 18 Jan 1879, probated Feb 1881. He bequeathed 171 acres in McDuffie Co. to be sold to pay his debts. Wife, Susan F., and four children, viz: Catherine, Stephen, William and Susan. The "children by my first marriage to have no interest in this, my will." He left surveying instruments.
