Dawson of Greene County
William Crosby Dawson, the son of George Dawson, Sr., was born 4 June 1798 in Greene County, died 5 May 1856 in Greensboro. He was a lawyer and judge, having studied law under Thomas Cobb of Lexington. He married (1) on 28 January 1820 in Greene County, Henrietta, the daughter of Dr. Thomas Wingfield, and (2) in December of 1850, Eliza M. Williams, widow from Memphis, Tennessee. The family lived in Greene County in 1850; also Sydney Wingfield (female), born 1778 in North Carolina. Issue:
- Henrietta Wingfield Dawson married Joseph B. Hall of Columbus.
- George Oscar Dawson, born 1825 Georgia, lawyer in Greensboro and representative to the Georgia Legislature.
- Edgar Gilbert Dawson, born 1830 Georgia, law student; married the only daughter of Dr. William Terrell of Sparta.
- Emma Caledonia Dawson, born 1832 Georgia, married Edward W. Seabrook of South Carolina.
- Euphrasia Dawson (daughter), born 1833 Georgia.
- Thomas W. Dawson, born 1837 Georgia.
- William Reid Dawson, died while a junior at the University of Georgia.
- Henry Dawson, lived three years.
- Lucien Dawson, lawyer, married Elizabeth Dent of Athens.
