Darden of Virginia & Emanuel & Monroe Counties



Among the first known Dardens in America were Jacob Darden who died 1719 in the Isle of Wight County, Virginia, and Jethro Darden of Nansemond County, Virginia. Presumably the Jethro Darden listed below descends from this branch.

Jethro Darden was born 10 August 1772 in Emanuel County, Georgia. His LWT was probated 3 July 1837 in Monroe County. Named his wife, Ellender. To William Darden, in trust for my daughter, Lucretia Ponder. Grandchildren: children of Jonathan Darden, viz: George W., Mary Ann, Rebecca Jane, Martha Elizabeth, Jonathan and Madison Darden; children of James Hill, viz: Nancy Henson, Eliza, Frances, Mary Ann, William, James Washington and Henry Hill. Heirs: Wilson, Stephen, Elizabeth Winn, Mary Rhodes, Ann, and John Weaver. He married Ellender Perkins 14 October 1793 in Emanuel County. Issue:[1]
