Danielly or Dannelly

James Danielly, was born ca 1720, died 1788 in Richmond County, Georgia. Wife Catherine as proved by the birth of their son, John Danielly, who was born 1743 in Queen Anne County, birth listed at St. Lukes Protestant Episcopal Church. There are no further records in Maryland for this James Danielly or Dannelly. Apparently they left Maryland and removed to Beaufort District, South Carolina where other Dannelly wills are recorded. Whether or not they ever resided in Georgia is unknown. The sons, John and James resided in Columbia (old Richmond) and Warren Counties near one another after having drawn land grants. In 1774 James and Catherine Danielly received a land grant in Washington County, Georgia which was filed in Richmond County, but located outside the town of old Wrightsboro (now Thomson) which is now in McDuffie County. Issue:

John Danielly, son of James and Catherine Danielly, was born 1743 in St. Lukes Protestant Episcopal Parish in Queen Anne County, Maryland and died 1806 in Columbia County, Georgia. Wife, Catherine. In 1774 John Danelly was granted 100 acres in Richmond County, and prayed for 287 1/2 acres in Washington County. He appears to have had six children, viz:
  1. Captain James Dannely was born ca 1765 in Beaufort District, South Carolina. There are many deed transactions in Columbia County, Georgia for James Dannelly showing that his land was located on the Great Kiokee River. There is a 1792 deed of James Dannelly and his wife, Bridget, William Ayres and his wife, Frances, and John Ayres and his wife, Mary, all of Columbia County, selling to John Lezenby 250 acres out of a 500-acre tract on the Great Kiokee Creek, bounded by Claiborne, Castleberry and McDowell. Many Columbia County transactions also fell into Richmond County. It appears that James Dannelly's land grants for Revolutionary War Service (above) fell into Columbia County because on 30 Mar 1799 James Danelly deeded to Claiborne Newsome 250 acres, being part of two tracts: 150 acres granted to Danelly 5 Jul 1787 and 200 acres contiguous on Trading Road, granted 6 Feb 1799. Thomas Stapler and wife, Ruth of Hancock County mentioned 135-1/2 acres on Cane Creek which had been originally granted to James Danelly. Another deed by the Columbia County tax commissioner, John Lamnkin, dated 29 Nov 1796 in Columbia County mentions 14,000 acres of land on Briar Creek formerly granted to James Danelly. 5. Daniel Dannelly, born ca 1768, died after 1802 in Richmond County, Georgia. Revolutionary War Patriot. He married Elizabeth Prather on 10 April 1788 in Richmond County.
