Dailey of Elbert and Henry Counties; and Texas



John Dailey Sr. was married to Rachel Clark Bowen and had issue:

David Dailey was born 2/4/1804 in Elbert County, Georgia and died 6/11/1872 in Hays County, Texas. He was married on 12/3/1829 in Henry County to Mary Evans Lamar (3/8/1813-10/3/1863), both being buried in the San Marcos Cemetery in Hays County, Texas. Mary Evans Lamar was the daughter of Mary Louisa E. (Winn) and John Lamar and a cousin to Mirabeau Lamar, president of Texas. David removed from Henry County Stringtown, Texas in 1854 in a family carriage and three wagons with his wife, ten children about about thirty slaves, traveling a distance of 1,087 miles.[1] David Dailey was a physician and a Methodist Minister, being licensed to preached in 1835 after having attended medical lectures in Philadelphia. In 1832 he moved his family from McDonough, Georgia to a farm on the McDonough-Jonesboro Road near Creek Swamp where he operated a gin. Issue:[2]
