CRUTCHFIELD of Wilkes and Greene Counties, Georgia



John Crutchfield was first found in Wilkes County in 1786. He was listed on the Wilkes County Tax Digest from 1787-1790 - John Crutchfield, 6 polls, 10 slaves, 600 acres, Wilkes County; and 1 poll, 250 acres in Wilkes County. He married Jinney W. Jelk on 9 January 1804 in Greene County. His LWT dated 19 December 1810, probated 3 September 1811 in Greene County Will Book E, page 100. Named a son-in-law, Daniel Grant. Issue:

Deed Book CC, page 133. John Crutchfield, Indian Trader, and wife, Susannah, deed to William Greaves 200 acres on Golden Grove Creeek, originally granted said John Crutchfield in 1787. Deed Book F, page 245. John Crutchfield of Wilkes County sold to Thomas Ferguson of Charleston, South Carolina on 5 April 1796, for 200 pds., 287-1/2 acres of land which was granted to said Crutchfield by Samuel Elbert, bounded by John Young, Samuel Whitaker, James Hog, and vacant.
