Crowell of Henry County
Legend The first known Crowell is Peter, believed to be Peter Kroll who arrived in Philadelphia in 1734 and who removed to Mecklenburg County,
North Carolina. His home was located on Buffalo Creek, 100 acres of which he and his wife Catherine sold on December 10, 1762 to Conrad Haraha
for 1200 pounds.[1] He was born 1714 in Germany and married Kadrena (Catherine) in Pennsylvania.
Simon Crowell, son of Peter (above), resided in that part of Mecklenburg County which became Union County. Sim had three sons: Samuel, George and Charlie who resided on Goose Creek. Simon was born ca 1731 in Pennsylvania and died May 1, 1837, his tombstone saying that he was aged 106 years. He was married to Isabella McWilliams on 2/2/1797. Issue:[2]

- John Crowell, born 7/14/1772 married 2/2/1797 Isabella McWilliams (born 5/16/1776 in Ireland). Issue:
- Elisha S. Crowell, born 3/1/1798 in North Carolina, married 3/13/1827 Catherine Crowell (born 1806 in N. C.). Issue:
- Churchwell A. Crowell died 4/6/1865 during Civil War, married 12/18/1850 Mary Turner in Henry County, Georgia.
- John M. Crowell married 9/4/1857 Vicy Ann Hardnott.
- John M. Crowell married 9/4/1856 Ann Hardnott.
- Alfred H. Crowell died 7/3/1863 during Civil War, married 11/18/1860 Mary C. Vickers.

- Hester Ann Crowell married 4/3/1859 Elijah W. Boynton.
- Charles D. Crowell, born 3/27/1809 in North Carolina, removed to Henry County, Georgia before 1840; afterwards removed to Tallapoosa County, Alabama. He was married on 4/2/1835 to Bethena Grant. Issue:
- Didemas H. Crowell, born 1837 Henry County, Georgia married Virginia E. Echols 9/30/1866.
- William G. Crowell, born 10/14/1838 Henry County, Georgia, died 2/5/1896 in Hopkins County, Texas, married 11/17/1859 Elizabeth Ann Earnels.
- David G. L. Crowell, born 8/1841 Henry County, Georgia, married 1/10/1863 Martha J. Eveans.
- Amanda Americus Crowell, born 10/24/1843 in Henry County, Georgia, died in Tallasee, Alabama.

William Crowell, son of Peter (above), was born 1740 in Pennsylvania and died 1822 in Bedford County, Tennessee.
Ditterich Crowell, son of Peter (above), was born ca 1744 in Pennsylvania.
George Crowell, son of Peter (above), was born 7/1747 in Pennsylvania and died 10/23/1837 in Stanly County, North Carolina. He was married to Jemmena Sharrin. Issue:
