James Cook was born ca 1750 and died in 1833. He was married to Margaret Lucile Hawthorne, a daughter of Nathaniel Hawthorne. She divorced him in 1816. Issue:

B. William Marion Cook, born 1809, died before 15 April 1875, possible in Berrien County. He married (1) Nancy Vann (born 1821, died 21 July 1896) , daughter of William Vann, on 20 May 1841 in Wilkinson County. They were buried at the Cook Family Cemetery in Wilkinson County. Issue:
1. Thomas E. Cook, born 1842 married Amanda Brooks, killed during the War Between the States, served in Co. D of the 57th Georgia Regiment Volunteer Army of Tennessee, Wilkinson County, Smith Guards. Killed at Vicksburg in 1863.
2. Martha Ann Cook, born 1845, married William H. Cauley (born 1840). Issue: Ella J. Cauley, born 1868, married W. E. Ussery; Emma E. Cauley, born 1869; William H. Cauley, born 1871; Benjamin R. Cauley, born 1877; Sara F. Cauley, born 1879; Henry J. Cauley, born 1880, married Gertrude Pharis.
3. William Jackson Cook, born 1846, died 1903, Elizabeth Gilbert, buried in the Cook Cemetery in Wilkinson County. 4. Amos Rieley Cook, born 1849, died 13 October 1881, married Emma Payne. Buried in the Cook Cemetery in Wilkinson County. 5. Benjamin Cook, born 24 October 1851 in Wilkinson County, died 15 March 1896, buried in the Cook Cemetery. He married Sarah Cook (1877-1943), a cousin, the daughter of Amos and Mary (Watson) Cook. Buried in the Cook Cemetery in Wilkinson County. 6. Wade Hampton Cook, born 10 July 1854, died 5 January 1942, married Fannie Smith (1853-1881), buried in the Cook Cemetery in Wilkinson County. 7. Joel Arnold Cook, born 27 June 1856, died 28 January 1938, married Dollie Sarah Constance Patrick (born 30 August 1862, died 20 February 1940), buried in the Cook Cemetery in Wilkinson County. Issue:

d. Elberta (Mama Bert) Cook, twin, born 22 March 1903, died 15 April 1897, married Floral Payne, a son of Joel Thomas Payne and his wife, Salina Ann (Butler) Payne. Issue: Glenn Payne; Floral Payne; Addie Mae Payne; Willie Payne; Carliss Payne, married Joe Taylor. (Issue: Donnie Taylor married Patsy Walker and had son, Ricky Taylor (deceased); William K. Taylor, married Marion and had issue: Timothy and Sabrina Taylor.)
