Connally of Atlanta



Thomas Whipple Connally was born 9 Jun 1809 in Madison County, Alabama and died 30 June 1884 in East Point, Georgia. He was married on 18 Feb 1836 to Temperance A. Peacock and by her had six children, viz: Dr. Elijah (below); David Wilson 1838-1910; James Cornelius (born 1840); Mary Elizabeth (1841-1924); Martha Hickey (born 1842; Cornelia Printup (1843-1871); Susan Jane (1846-1877); Thomas Murphy (1847-1861); Frances T. (1848-1869); Emma Smith (1850-1877): Sarah Melville (born 1852); Paul F. (born 1853); Silas Newton (born 1855); Julia Ophelia (1857-1928); and Cora Clementine (1863, died young).

Dr. Elijah Lewis Connally was born 1837, died 16 Mar 1930 in East Point, Georgia. He was married on 15 April 1874 to Mary Virginia Brown (born 1850). Their homestead was The Homestead in Atlanta, Georgia. Issue:

Joseph Brown Connally, born 1875, died 20 Aug 1920 in a military hospital at Ft. McPherson, Georgia, buried with honors. He was a graduate of Emory and the University of Georgia; served 20 years in the National Guard as colonel on the personal staff of three governors of Georgia. Served as captain of the 325th Infantry, 82d Division Aug 1917 in the Toul Sector, Marbache Section Mihiel offensive and Meuse-Argonne offensive where he was severely wounded.

Mary Temperance Connally was born 15 May 1877 in Atlanta, Georgia. married John S. Spalding.

Thomas Whipple Connally, born 1881, married 13 Apr 1925 Dorothy Copeland (born 25 Jan 1896 Seneca Falls, NY) and had issue: Sally Patricia Connally, born 6 Feb 1926 in Atlanta, Georgia. Sally Brown Connally, born 1884, married Hiram Warner Martin. Frances Connally, born 1888, married Hal F. Hentz.
