Collier of Virginia
and Oglethorpe & Wilkes Counties
Isaac Collier, the son of Charles Collier and his wife Judith (Myhill) Collier of York County, Virginia, was born ca 1709 and died 10 October 1771 in Brunswick County, Virginia. He was married to Anne Vines (born 1716, died 1737 in Brunswick County, Virginia), the daughter of Thomas Vines and his wife, Mary (Hill) Vines. Issue:
I. Judith Collier, born 25 August 1730 in Porto Bello, Brunswick County, Virginia.
Vines Collier, born 1735 in Porto Bello, Brunswick County, Virginia, died 11 September 1795 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, buried in the Salem Church Cemetery. He married Sarah Elizabeth Williamson 1760 in Brunswick County. He came to Wilkes County, Georgia before 1785.[1] On 29 March 1788, he was an appraiser of the estate of David Lowry in Wilkes County. The LWT of Vines Collier dated 11 September 1795, probated 11 December 1795 in Oglethorpe County Will Book A (1793-1807), page 17-22, named his wife, Sally, and his children.[2]

- Robert Collier. He was a J. P. in Wilkes County in 1817.
- Isaac Cuthbert Collier, born 1765 in Brunswick County, Virginia, married Elizabeth Smith. He served in the House of Representatives from Oglethorpe County 1830-1831; Senator 1832-1833.

- Betty Collier married Mr. Dunn.
- Ann Collier married John Hardman[3] on 13 March 1797 in Oglethorpe County.

Daughter: Betsey Dunn, a negro girl named Dilacy. Daughter: Ann Hardaman, negro girl, Jeney. Son: Isaac Collier, 100 acres in fork of the Bra---- between James Greer and myself, adjoining. Grishom. Wife: Sally, my land and negroes, but if she marries only a child's part with my other ten children. Children: Thomas, Cuthbert, Vines, Robert, John, Polly, Sally, William. Executors: John Collier, Isaac Collier, Sally Collier. On 12/11/1795 Mat. Rainey refused to act as Executor, though named in LWT of Vines Collier on 12/7. Wit: Samuel Northington. On 12/11/1795, witnesses agreed that this LWT as his LWT: Sally Collier, John Collier, John Hardaman, Thomas Dunn, Isaac Collier, Cuthbert Collier, Thomas Collier. On 12/11/1795, Matthew Rainey swore that Vines Collier sent for him on 9/11th to write his LWT. Leonard Young and his brother, George Young, swore that they were asked to witness the LWT, but when they arrived the LWT was not ready, and because of sickness, they did not return to witness it. 12/11/1795, John Collier, planter, son of Vines Collier, deceased, swore that he remembers his father having sent for Mr. Rainey to write his LWT, and for George and Leo Young to witness it, that it was late in the evening before Mr. Rainey came and he asked Mr. Rainey to come again. He heard his father tell Mr. Rainey to draw it.

Being sick and expecting my approaching end is near. To wife: Nancy, all my estate during her life or widowhood. If my wife marries again a is to have my Negro girl Jenney, one grey filley got by old Hingham, so a child's part out of the balance of my estate. Negro woman Rose and her youngest child to be sold if necessary. To my daughter Betsey when she mes of age or marries, my Negro girl Sarah. To my son Thomas when he arrives of age or marries my Negro boy Peter. To my son John my Negro girl Polley when he comes of age or marries. To my son Robert Vines Hardeman when he becomes of age or marries my Negro girl Manza. To my son Ben Franklin at lawful age or marriage my Negro girl Clary. Whereas I expect my wife is with child, if it is so, the child to be made equal with the others. Executor: Cuthbert Collier. Witnesses: Mat. Rainey, Salley Collier, Doritha Raffity.
