Coffee/Coffey of Ireland, Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia


Peter Coffey, Sr. was born ca 1690/1700 in Ireland. He died after 1763 in Prince Edward County, Virginia.
"Peter Coffey from Newgate (prison) to Virginia on Ship Forward Galley, received onboard October 28, 1730."[1]


He was listed as an early settler of Prince Edward County, Virginia. "Peter Coffey, 220 acres on Vaughans Creek, 20 September 1748; Peter Coffey 192 acres on Vaughans Creek, 20 September 1748."[2]

  3. Susannah Coffey, born 1780.
  4. John Coffey, born 1782 (General in the War of 1812 from Telfair County, Georgia).

  8. Cynthia Coffey, born 1791.
  9. Martha (Patsy) Coffey, born 1793.
