Charles Evans of Bibb County
CHARLES EVANS was b. 1803 in Georgia, a farmer, and m. Ann (b.
1806). After the death of Ann in 1830, Charles married 10/15/1845 Judith Bassett. Charles had seven farms in all, comprising a total of 665 acres. Some of the land was in the 13th District of old Monroe Co., now Bibb Co. He concentrated his efforts on blacksmithing, however, and only raised a few domestic animals, such as pigs, chickens andcows for personal use; also tobacco as a prime crop. Issue:
- WILLIAM EVANS (1829-1882). He worked on the family
farm until he was about 21 years old. He learned how to make tools on his father's farm, later became a blacksmith.
