DAVID CARR, born ca 1820 in South Carolina was residing in Atlanta in 1870. Also, with the family was Anna Carr, age 68, born in South Carolina. David Carr, born ca 1820 in South Carolina, was married to Elizabeth, born 1820 in Georgia. They were listed on the 1870-1880 Fulton County Census, Casey's District. Known issue (1870-1880 Fulton County Census):

II. William A. J. Carr, born 1857 in Georgia, listed with his parents 1870-1880 census. III. Georgiana Carr, born 1858 in Georgia.
IV. Savannah Carr, born 1860 in Georgia.

VI. Elizabeth Carr, born 1874 in Fulton County.
JAMES CARR, born 1820 in Georgia (parents born in Georgia) was married to Catharine (Katie) who was born 1830 in Georgia. The family resided in Palmetto, which is located in south Fulton County. James died before 1880, as Katie was listed onn the 1880 Fulton County Census (Palmetto) with their son, Sherman, then aged 12. Apparently members of the family were well diggers and cotton factory workers. Fulton Bag & Cotton Mill is located on DeKalb Avenue (It is currently being converted into loft apartments.

I. Margaret Carr, born 1856, listed as a sister of Georgia and William Carr on the 1880 census.
II. William A. J. Carr, born March 1858 in Fulton County, died before 1920. According to the records of Sherri Osburn, he was married (1) Georgia Donaldson on 21 January 1878 in Fulton County, daughter of Abner Donaldson and his wife Matilda and had by her, a son, James Henry Carr (1878-1925). He married (2) Martha King on 4 October 1901 in Fulton County, daughter of Richard King and Sarah Hamlett. Resided at Oak Grove, Georgia which is near Palmetto. In 1880, they resided with the family of Matilda Donaldson. Issue from Mrs. Osburn:
A. James Henry Carr, born 9 November 1878 in Fulton County, died 17 March 1925 in Fulton County, married Amanda Hilton on 20 May 1900 in Fulton County. They were buried in the Sandy Springs Methodist Church Cemetery in Atlanta. Issue:
- Roy Carr, born 1904.
- Lillie May Carr, born 1906, married Mr. Sanders, widowed in 1930.
- Carrie Lee Carr, born 1908.
- Henry Carr, born 1910.
- Louis Carr, born 1911.
- Maggie K. Carr, born 1913.
- Lillian Carr, born 1922.
B. Alice Carr, born 18 November 1881 in Fulton County, died 20 July 1925 in DeKalb County, married on 22 August 1900 in Fulton County, Joseph Warren Childers (1-5-1879-9-29-1934). In 1910 they resided in the Cross Keys District of DeKalb County.
C. Maggie Carr, born 15 October 1884.
D. Ada Carr, born 12 January 1888 in Fulton County, died 16 June 1974 in Fulton County, married (1) Mr. Martin (2) James J. Smith..
E. William Carr born 8 May 1892.
F. David Carr, born 2 November 1897.
III. Nancy Carr, born 1862 in Fulton County, married William Fulton on 25 June 1879 in Fulton County.
IV. Georgianna Carr, born 1863 in Fulton County, married Silas Donaldson (born 1856) on 22 December 1881 in Fulton County, a son of Abner and Matilda A. DOnaldson of Oak Grove (Fulton County).
V. Jack Carr, born 1866 in Fulton County.
VI. Sherman Carr, born 1868 in Fulton County married Susie Hollingsworth 17 November 1887 in Fulton County.
The problem was to determine the names of the parents of William J., Carr, born 1858, which was resolved on page 401 of the 1870 Fulton County Census. Sherry Osburn traces her family via Fulton County Census Records from 1880-1930; including cemetery records, marriages, etc. William J. Carr listed his father's place of birth as "South Carolina".
