Carlisle



Green Whatley Carlisle was born 16 March 1810 in Morgan County, Georgia and died 4 June 1882 in Brundidge, Alabama. He was married on 19 July 1832 in LaGrange, Georgia to Mary Elizabeth Leverett. Alabama. He was a farmer, owning land in Brundidge and was buried on his homeplace. Mary Elizabeth Leverett was born 15 October 1816 in Putnam County, Georgia and died 12 May 1887 in Brundidge, Alabama. She was a daughter of Rev. Thomas Leverett and Mary G. Griffin, her father being a baptist minister and a soldier of the Revolutionary War. Rev. Thomas Leverett was a son of William Leverett and his wife, Bridget, who emigrated from England to Wilkes County, Georgia.

In 1880 the Carlisle's resided in Dixon, Pike County, Alabama. Issue of Green Whatley Carlisle and Mary Elizabeth (Leverett) Carlisle

  1. Lilla Green Carlisle (pictured above) was born 31 October 1853 in Milltown, Chambers County, Alabama. died 14 September 1876 in Brundidge, Alabama. She was married to Walter Joshuaway Jordan. They had a son, Walter Joshuaway Jordan, born 3 September 1876 in Brundidge. Lilla died shortly after the birth of this son.
