Bynum of Randolph County



According to the book, Randolph County Georgia, the Bynum family came from Wales during the 1600’s and was variously spelled Bienheim, Binham, then Bynum. Drury Bynam, a Revolutionary War Soldier, resided in Warren County in 1820 and drew in the 1827 Land Lottery in Lee (now Randolph County) where he removed in 1830.

Reuben Bynum was born 8 May 1808, died 7 July 1881, buried in the Rohoboth Baptist Church Cemetery in Randolph County. He married Emily Collins (born 6 September 1821, died 17 February 1886, buried in the Rohoboth Baptist Church Cemetery). They first settled in North Carolina, then removed to Houston County, Georgia and later to Randolph County. Issue:[1]

  1. Sylvia Bynum, born 1843, married Hose Williams and removed to Mississippi.
  2. Reuben Bynum, born 1845, removed to Mississippi.
  3. James Wilson Bynum, born 17 October 1847, died 21 March 1923, buried in the Rohoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. He married (1) Louisa Senn (1805-1862, buried in the Rohoboth Baptist Church Cemetery) and (2) Arabella Chambers. Removed to Alabama.
  4. David Bynum, born 1850, removed to Mississippi.
  5. William Collins Bynum, born November 1852, died April 1939, buried in the Rohoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. He married Sarah Fannie Kleckley (3/1852-3/1936).
  6. Daniel Kleckley Bynum, born 31 December 1858, died 2 January 1937, buried in the Rohoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. He married Sarah Elizabeth Mullins (7/31/1863-3/5/1941)
  7. John Bynum, born 6 September 1861, died 11 July 1912, married Nancy Manry (5/17/1868-10/30/1943).
