BURFORD of Greene County, Georgia



William and Elizabeth Burford had a son Elder Daniel Burford, who was born 21 April 1684 in King William County, Virginia, died 12 February 1756, married Sarah Miles ca 1710 in Gloucester County, Virginia. Their son:

William Burford was born ca 1735 in Louisia County, Virginia, died 1797, Greene Co., his LWT dated 4/2/1795, probated 9/4/1797. Caveat filed by Ellis West, John Comer, Peek and William Browning 9/4/1797. Wife: Grissel Clements. The first record of him in Greene County was a deed, Greene County Deed Book B, page 233, 5 March 1789, William Burford and Judith, his wife, of Greene County to Tyre Clements of Greene County for 25 pds. sterling, 152 acres of land in Washington County, granted William Burford on 27 February 1786, bound by Lewis Wiggins, Benjamin Jenkins and William Burford.

  1. Daniel Burford. Greene County, Georgia Deed Book F, page 156, 1 October 1794, Daniel Burford of Caswell County, North Carolina and Elizabeth (Betsy), his wife, deed to David Peeples, Sr. of Greene County, for 200 pds. sterling, 431 acres of land in Greene County, bounded by James Grigsby. Cattle Markings & Brands, Greene County, January 1789, lists a brand of Daniel Burford (Deed Book B, page 334).

  2. Mitchell Burford was born 3 March 1776 in Warren County, North Carolina, died 15 April 1844. He married Sally Bragg 18 March 1809, Oglethorpe County.

  3. Leonard Burford was born ca 1765, died before 26 November 1827, Jones County, Georgia. He married Polly Smith on 12 May 1795, Greene County.

  4. Nancy Burford married Mr. Comer

    V. Lucy Burford married Mr. Brasfield

  5. Agatha Burford married Mr. Peek

  6. Christian Burford married Mr. Stephens.
