Bullock of Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia


Richard Bullock, Sr. died 1703, LWT in Surry County, Virginia. He married Mary.

Richard Bullock, Jr. died Prince William County, married Elizabeth Shockley, daughter of Richard and Alice Shockley. His LWT dated 1739 in Prince William County, Virginia. He was in Hanover County, Virginia in 1725, and in Surry County in 1732. Issue:

Richard Bullock III, born Prince William County, Virginia, died October 27, 1764 in Granville County, North Carolina. He married Ann Henley, the daughter of Leonard Henley and Elizabeth Richardson. Issue: Nathaniel Bullock, Sarah Bullock married Mr. Sims; Agnes Bullock married Mr. Williams; Zachariah Bullock; William Bullock; John Bullock; Agatha Bullock married Mr. Nichols; Leonard Henley Bullock married Delia Fannie Hawkins.

Nathaniel Bullock, son of Richard Bullock, was born 1738 in Granville County, North Carolina. He married on August 12, 1760 in Granville County, Miss Mary Hawkins, the daughter of Philemon Hawkins and his wife, Delia Martin. The family moved to Georgia during the Revolutionary War, settling in Wilkes County, later Greene County. Nathaniel died 1802 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. Issue:

  1. Hawkins Bullock was born March 19, 1763 probably Granville County, North Carolina, Revolutionary War Soldier, entering at the age of sixteen, serving under Capt. Twitty and General Greene. After the war he located in Wilkes County, then Madison County, where he died November 1, 1833. He married in Union County, South Carolina, on March 12, 1789, Miss Frances R. Gordon, the daughter of Captain Alexander Gordon, a Revolutionary War Soldier. Frances was born June 8, 1772 in North Carolina, died July 17, 1837 Madison County, Georgia. Issue:

    A. John Gordon Bullock was born January 3, 1790, probably Wilkes County, Georgia. His LWT dated 6/6/1826, probated 7/9/1834 in Madison County, named his father and mother (Hawkins and Frances Bullock). Also, his brothers, and sister. He is buried in the Hawkins-Bullock Cemetery in Madison County, his death occurring on April 4, 1835.

    B. Alexander Gordon Bullock was born Februarty 13, 1797 Georgia, married Milly Sorrells on February 12, 1818 in Madison County.

    C. Nathaniel Bullock was born December 10, 1798, married Selasty Colbert on November 6, 1821 in Oglethorpe County. He removed to Paulding County and is buried in the Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery, Dallas, Georgia.

    D. William Gordon Bullock was born September 27, 1802 Georgia, married Eleanor Sorrells on November 6, 1823.

    E. Hawkins Sherman Bullock was born December 23, 1812, married on January 5, 1832 Caroline Lester in Madison County.

    F. Richard Henley Bullock, farmer in Danielsville, was born October 21, 1810 in Oglethorpe County, and died July 1, 1899. In 1836 he married Mary H. Griffith, the daughter of James Griffith on January 21, 1836 Madison Co. Mary was born 1817 Madison Co., died in 1849. Richard married 2nd, in 1865, Lucinda Thompson, the daughter of Nathaniel Gholston, an early settler to Madison County and native of North Carolina. Richard died July 1, 1897.

    5. Georgia A. Bullock was born May 22, 1867 in Madison County, died November 1, 1954 Madison County.

    G. Mary Wyatt Bullock was born November 10, 1791, probably in Wilkes County, Georgia, married Richard M. Sims on October 3, 1813.

    H. Susannah Sherman Bullock was born November 16, 1794, probably in Wilkes County, Georgia, married George Alexander Gordon on April 11, 1811.

    I. Louisa Nance Gordon Bullock was born December 31, 1804 Georgia, died ca 1881 in Oglethorpe County, married 1st, Murray Sims in 1821, 2nd, William W. Brown on June 10, 1836 in Oglethorpe County.

    J. Frances Roy Bullock was born December 12, 1806 Georgia married Harrinton Hampton on March 28, 1826.

  2. Nathaniel Bullock, Jr. died ca 1818 in South Carolina, married Elizabeth Brantley.

  3. James Bullock died in Granville County, North Carolina, his LWT dated 1783. Issue:
