BROCK of Habersham and Decatur Co.'s
The question is the lineage of one, John Brock, b. 1800, who was listed on the 1850 Decatur Co., Ga. Census. In Georgia, there appear to be three early branches of this family name. One, in Campbell Co., John Brock b. 1805 Ga. and Henry Brock b. 1803 in S. C. I examined the estate records, as well as deeds in Campbell Co., and found several transactions of Henry Brock of Campbell Co. To John Brock of Campbell Co., dated in 1849. Also, an 1846 deed in Campbell Co. of William Brock of Campbell Co. to John R. Brock of Campbell Co. The LWT of John Brock dated 8/17/1861, probated 1/13/1862 in Campbell Co. named his wife, Frances Elizabeth, and mentioned "my children". From the 1850 Campbell Co. Census, his children were - James F., John W. And Mary E. Also, the LWT of John Brock, Sr. in Campbell Co. dated 1/27/1872, probated 8/6/1872, named wife, Jincy, and mentioned "my children". From 1850 Campbell Co. Census, his children were: Sarah F., Mary J., James F., Martha A., William, Lydia, Elizabeth, John and Joseph B. There was no Will found for Henry Brock (b. 1803 S. C.), but his children were: Susannah, Jack, Henry, Thomas, Polly, Elizabeth, Balam and Lydia.
I could not find supporting evidence that the Brock family in Campbell Co. was related to the Brocks in Decatur Co. They have name similarities, as well as birthdate similarities. What I did find was that Brock's were in Decatur Co. as early as 1830, where they were marrying.
The 1820 Census lists John Brock in Habersham Co. It appears that his son, Isaac Brock, was married in Decatur Co. 10/29/1829 to Mary Sapp. Also, there is a marriage record of one, John Brock to Delila Harrell 7/8/1830 in Decatur Co. The inference is that two of his sons, John and Isaac, removed to Decatur Co.
The LWT of Moses Brock, Habersham Co. Book AA (1820-1850) dated 3/26/1831, probated 7/5/1831, named wife, Rebecca, and children: Rebecca, Hannah, Isaac, John, James, Reuben. Exrs: Thomas and George Brock.
