BRANTLEY of Virginia and Chatham County, Georgia



Edward Brantley was born 1622 in England, d. 30 Mar 1688, Isle of Wight Co.,Va (his LWT dated 1688-9). The first record of him in Virginia is when he was transported by John Seaward (who was granted 400 acres in the Isle of Wight County on June 18, 1638). On October 30, 1669, Edward Brantly was granted 675 acres in the Isle of Wight County, near Mr. England and the "dancing place", through a pocoson, by Mr. Tookes to the Ashen Sw., near Hen. White's old Cart Path to the Mill, for transporting 14 persons. (Patent Book 6). Issue:
