Pierre Bowdoin was born 1640 in Larochelle, France and died 12 September 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was married in Boston in 1674 to Elizabeth Fixe (1643-8/18/1720). Known issue: John, James, Elizabeth and Mary.
John Bowdoin, son of Pierre, was born 1674 in La Rochelle, France and died 16 April 1717 in Northampton County, Virginia. He was married to Susannah Stockley, a daughter of William Stockley. Their known issue: Peter (1697-1745), John (1700-1739), Susannah (born 1705) and Mary (born 1707).
John Bowdoin, son of John (above), was born 1700/1705 in Northampton County, Virginia and died 1739 in Somerset County, Maryland. Wife, Elizabeth Folsom. Known issue: Richard, Robert, William and John.
William Bowdoin, son of John, was born 1720/1725 in Delmarva, Maryland and died 1774 in Granville County, North Carolina. He was married to Elizabeth Travis, a daughter of Simeon Travis. Known issue: John, Travis, Sarah and William.
William Bowdoin, son of William, was born 1740 in Delmarva, Maryland, died 1 February 1821 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. He married Elizabeth Macon. Issue:
- James Bowdoin, born 1760 in Granville County, North Carolina, died 1840 in Monroe County, buried in the Bowdoin Cemetery. He was married 29 October 1785 in Granville County, North Carolina to Priscilla Williams (1760-1840). Issue:
A. William Bowdoin, born 1784 in Granville County, North Carolina, died 1865 in Monroe County, Georgia, buried in the family cemetery.
B. Daniel W. Bowdoin, born 1786 in Edgefield District, South Carolina, died 1869 in Putnam County, Georgia.
C. John Bowdoin, born 1790 in Edgefield County, South Carolina, died 1855 in Monroe County, Georgia. He married Surena Bradford 3 June 1838 in Monroe County.
D. James Bowdoin, born 1793 in Edgefield District, South Carolina, died 1865. He married Betsey Clark on 11 May 1819 in Putnam County.
E. Travis Bowdoin, born 1795 in Edgefield District, South Carolina, died 1837 in Monroe County, Georgia. He married Sarah Clark on 4 September 1817 in Putnam County.
F. Willis Bowdoin, born 7 January 1799 in Edgefield District, South Carolina, died 12 May 1871 in Monroe County. He married Sarah Slaughter on 7 January 1819 in Putnam County. Sarah died in 1853. His LWT dated 10/24/1870, probated 6/5/1871, Monroe County, named issue, viz:

I. Joshua Bowdoin, born 2 November 1803 in Edgefield District, South Carolina, died 2 November 1880 in Gordon County, Georgia. He married (1) Bersheba Fail on 11 January 1821 in Putnam County and (2) Martha J. Lane on 8 January 1854 in Putnam County, Georgia. Bathsheba was born 1 July 1794, died 8 July 1852. Issue:1. Francis Marion Bowdoin, born 2 June 1823 in Putnam County, died 3 May 1853 in Gordon County.
2. Emily Fail Bowdoin, born 27 August 1824 in Putnam County.
3. John W. Bowdoin, born 29 August 1825 in Putnam County.
4. Elisha F. Bowdoin, born 17 January 1828 in Putnam County.
5. Josephus Daniel Bowdoin, born 18 April 1829 in Putnam County, died 20 December 1882 in Adairsville. He married Elizabeth C. Patman (born 24 January 1831). Issue:
