Daniel Blue Sr.
DANIEL BLUE, SR. b. ca 1760, d. 1838, native of North Carolina and of Scottish ancestry according to family tradition. His wife, Catharine, b. 1775 N. C. per 1850 Glynn Co., Ga. Census. Some evidence indicates that her maiden name may have been Catharine McQueen.
They resided on Crooked River in Camden Co., Ga. 4/30/ 80 he advertised in The Columbian Museum and Savannah Advertiser for two run-away negroes, Owen andJim, about 25 years of age. Evidently Jim was recovered , if not Owen, as the former was levied on and sold in 1809 under foreclosure of a mortgage given by Daniel Blue to William I. Scott.
An affidavit recorded in Camden Co., Ga. disclosed that he purchased in July and August 1802 in Norfolk Co., Va., between 60 and 70 slaves and removed them to Georgia. He also brought 27 slaves, each listed by name from Norfolk to Camden Co., 6a. 3/18/1805. He owned land in South Carolina on the Little Pee Dee River in Marion District (later Liberty Co.). 3/9/1809 Daniel Blue purchased from Jacob Clark 200 acres and plantation on Cantys Creek on northside of Great Satilla River.
6/7/1809 deed recorded in Camden Co. where Daniel Blue bought "all that plantation and tract of land situate and being in Marion District (S. C.) adjoining lands of Jacob Blackwell and Daniel Blue, commonly called Blues Ferry, on the River Little Pee Dee, 100 acres, more or less."
Apparently interested in maritime matters, years earlier he bought part of Water Lot attached to Lot 4, in Town of St. Marys, Ga. 12/22/1815 he sold several tracts, .including Canty's Creek property on northside of Great Satilla River to Thomas Hall of Orangeburg District, S. C, (Catharine, wife, released dower.)
Daniel Blue Sr. received land grants in Glynn Co., 1826, 200 acres; in 1839, 250 acres on Salt Marsh of Little Satilla River, Glynn Co.; in 1840, his widow, Catharine, received 230 acres in Glynn Co.
Savannah Georgian dtd 7/18/1829: ".....a festive gathering of a part of the inhabitants of Turtle River and Little Satilla Neck to be at the house of Capt. John Anderson, Fancy BZuff, to celebrate the Fourth of July, the aged Capt. Daniel Blue presiding." There were 13 formal toasts in honor of each of the Thirteen Original Colonies, including one by Capt. Blue, to the President of the U. S. "The President of the United States - May he in health of body and peace of mind, close his term of eight years as President of the United States - with at least as much benefit to his country and honor to himself, as did General Andrew Jackson, in gaining the battle of New Orleans, and ending a perilous, devasting and complicated war."

- ELIZABETH BLUE b. 1793 South Carolina m. in Glynn Co., Ga. John Piles, Jr. (1790-1857), son of John Piles and Mary (son of Samuel Piles and Sarah, early settler's of Frederica, St. Simons Island, Ga.) Elizabeth and John Piles, Jr. lived at "Half Moon Bluff", a plantation situated on the north bank of the Little Satilla River where it makes a bend reminiscent of a half-moon.
- JAMES BLUE b. 1797 North Carolina m. Ist, Mary McDonald, 2nd, Mrs. Sarah Gignilliat (Harrison) Snow, widow of Isaac Snow of McIntosh Co. In 1830 they resided in Glynn Co., later removing to Darien, McIntosh Co., Ga. where he owned a lumber and saw-mill; also mail contractor for U. S. Post Office. He aserved as .Judge of Inferior Court of Glynn Co.; Judge of Inferior Court of McIntosh Co. 1/14/1841-1842.
- DANIEL BLUE, JR. b. 1804 d. unmd, Was listed on the Muster Roll of Floyd's Co., Third Regt., Ist Brig., Ga. Militia, during the Seminole War of 1835.
- MARY ANN BLUE b. 1808, probably never married. She was mentioned as "Miss Mary Blue was one who joined" at a revival at Emanue1, near old Mr. Scarletts , 9/ 9/185 A. Letter from Daniel Blue, Sr. to Gov. John Forsyth dtd 2/13/1828 expressing concern over the name of his unmarried, adult daughter, Mary Ann, whom he thought was entitled to draw in the 1827 Land Lottery.
- ALEXANDER BLUE b. 1515 Ga., d. 1889, m. Angel Younge b. 1817 in S. C., dau. of philip Robert Younge and wife, Mary
Letitia Atkinson, dan. of Capt. John Atkinson of the British Army and Lady Jeane Murray, dau. of Sir Archibald Murray of Black Barony, Scotland. Philip R. Younge d. at his home, "Green House" in Darien, Ga. in 1852. He was b. 1776 in Florida, educated in England and France. Morning News, Savannah Ga., 11/26/1862:
"Yankees --------L steamed up the Ridge river near Darien to Blue and Hall's Mills and for three days and nights shelled the women and children of the settlement." A grand daughter of Alexander Blue stated that her grandmother, Angel Blue, had a sister, Jeane and that she married a Hall. The family was in Macon temporarily while Alexander Blue served as Judge of Inferior Court, McIntosh Co., until expiration of his term of office, 4/9/1866." Children:
