LOGAN E. BLECKLEY

LOGAN E. BLECKLEY, Judge, veteran jurist d. 3/6/1907 Clarkesville, Ga. In 1857 he m. (1) Miss Caroline Haralson of Newton Co., Ga. (she d. 1887); and m. (2) 1892 Miss Clorie Herrin of New York. Judge Bleckley served as a private in the Confederate army for a short time, but on account of poor health was forced to ask for his discharge. In 1864 he was appointed supreme court reporter. After reporting the 34Th and 35th Georgia Reports, he resigned the position, again taking up the practice of law in Atlanta. In 1975 he was appointed to the supreme court bench and remained in this position until 1880, when he resigned, as the judge expressed it, worn down and tired out." In January 1887, upon the death of Justice Jackson, Judge Bleckley was appointed his successor, which position he held for years. Upon his death, his body was brought to Atlanta and was viewed in the supreme court room, buried Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta, in the family lot.

L. E. Bleckley was one of the purchasers of the Estate of W. Woolsey in DeKalb Co., 1853.
