Bedell of New Jersey and Camden County
David Bedell, Revolutionary War Soldier, was born 17 April 1764 in Morris County, New Jersey, and died 24 March 1840. He married Ruth Fairchild, born 3 September 1765 in Morris County, New Jersey, died 19 February 1833. Ruth was a daughter of Caleb Fairchild, son of Matthew Fairchild. On October 15, David enlisted under Captains George Gray and John Craig in what was called Grays Troop, Col. Stephen Moylan's Regiment of the 4th Continental Light Dragoons of the Pennsylvania Line. David served throughout the war, first as a drummer boy and later as a dragoon.
In 1798 David and Ruth Bedell and their small son, David Hudson Bedell, removed to Burke County, North Carolina where four other Bedell sons were born. On October 27, 1828, while living at Burke County, North Carolina, David Bedell applied for a Revolutionary War pension at the age of 69. Besides the pension, he also received a bounty land warrant. About 1834 the widowed David Bedell and his four sons removed to Greene County. They came by covered wagon from Baird's Forge in Burke County, North Carolina and settled in the vicinity of Ebenezer, about 10 miles north of Springfield, Missouri.
David Bedell died in 1840 and was buried in the Old Salem Cemetery in Greene County, Missouri. His grave is marked with a government headstone by the Rachel Donelson Chapter DAR on June 21, 1914.

He married Jane Susan King on 24 November 1846 in Camden County, the daughter of James King and Margaret ONeil, born 1811, died 12 August 1855, buried in Zion Cemetery. Issue:
- James King Bedell, born 27 February 1849 at Wingate place, near Kingsland in Camden County. He married Willie Maye ppleby of Polk County, Mississippi on 7 October 1898 in Savannah, the daughter of Benjamin Wilson Appleby. Issue:
- James King, Jr., born 18 July 1899, died 10 June 1959, married Susie McCullough.
- Isaac Epstein King, born 2 October 1900.
- Susan Ellen King, born 6 January 1905 married Weyman Carlisle Huckabee.
- Lucius Mahlon King, born 1 April 1910, married Jack Griffin.
- Willie Mae King, married John Parker.
- Lucius Bedell.
- David Hudson Bedell.
