Bayless of Columbia County



Isham Bayless, his LWT dated 7 August 1820, probated 15 January 1822 in Columbia County. Wife: Elizabeth (Betsy). The last will and testament of Elizabeth Bayless is dated 14 August 1828, probated 4 January 1830 in Columbia County. Isham Baylis of Richmond County and James Cartledge of the same deeded on 21 February 1789 to Isham Baylis and his wife, Elizabeth, for 200 pounds sterling, a tract of land in Richmond County, being one equal half of a tract of 250 acres conveyed from Robert Graves to Isham Baylis, being 125 acres, bounded by Days Gile and Joseph Hutchenson, iincluding the old fields known as "Johnson Field." Columbia County Deed Book A page 150. On 22 October 1792, Isham Balis and his wife deeded to Randol Ramsey for 135 pounds, two tracts of land...one of 125 acres and the other of 135 acres, being part of a grant made to Robert Graves on 1 October 1774 for 250 acres in Columbia County, located on the waters of Little River, conoveyance of Robert Whitten "to us", 26 October 1790.
