Bailey of North Carolina and Bibb County



John Bailey, Sr. married Judah. After his death, Judah married Thomas Collins. Judah Bailey Collins died on 6 November 1839, and Thomas Collins died March 1842, buried in the Bailey Family Cemetery in Macon. "Some Additional Notes Showing Collins Family Connection: (information from records kept by Mrs. Anna Harris Halsey) from the Bailey-May-Collins Family Bible:[1]
"John Bailey born near Wilmington, North Carolina. His parents moved to Georgia beginning 18th century, settled near Sandersville. He married May May near Sandersville. John Bailey's parents were John and Judah Bailey. After death of John Bailey, Sr., his widow, Judah Bailey married Thomas Collins. Judah Bailey Collins died Nov. 6, 1839. Thomas Collins died March 1842. Both are buried in Bailey Family Cemetery at Bailey's Mill on Columbus Road, Macon, Georgia."
"Judah Bailey Collins and Thomas Collins had the following children: Robert Collins who married Eliza C. Smith (1800?1861); Charles Collins, b. 1797, died 1865, married Sophia F. Rossetter on 1/1/1835 at Macon, Georgia; William Collins married Latisher McElmurray; and two daughters ? Sidney and Annie Collins." Issue:
    John Bailey was born on 27 May 1792 near Wilmington, North Carolina and died August 1854 in Bibb County. Wife, Mary May, was born 22 December 1796. They were married on19 January 1815. The LWT of John Bailey was dated 16 February 1853, and probated 7 August 1854 in Bibb County. He named his wife, Polly; the children of Henry M. Bailey, James B. Bailey, Robert N. Bailey and Eliza A. E. Bailey. 'My four children." Grandchildren: Lavisia Johnson, Mary C. Johnson, John W. Johnson, Children of my deceased daughter, Caroline. Executorsrs: Wife, Polly, Henry M. Bailey, James B. Bailey, Robert N. Bailey, Robert Collins. Wits: William L. Johnson, Willson C. Hardy, Carleton B. Cole. Issue:
    1. Caroline Bird Bailey, born 18 February 1816, died on 13 August 1838. She married William B. Johnston.
    2. Henry May Bailey, born 18 August 1818, died 16 December 1882, married Mary A. Gates (born 1832, died 9 May 1905) on 5 April 1853. Issue: (1880 Bibb County Census, District 481):
      A. Carrie E. Bailey, born 1856 in Bibb County, died 22 May 1910. She married George D. Mozo (died 4 January 1885) on 7 April 1881. The Mozo Family Bible is in the possession of Mr. Bailey Mozo who resides on Coleman Ave., Macon, Georgia. Issue: George Edna Mozo married J. E. Guilford on 8 November 1905 and Henry Bailey Mozo married Nell Florence Tyer on 1 June 1907

    6. James Blackstone Bailey, born 19 January 1830, died 16 April 1880.
    7. Robert Neal Bailey, born 23 February 1832, died 13 September 1861, married Marian Louise Battle on 20 December 1853 in Bibb County.
    8. Eliza Ann Ellen Bailey, born 17 November 1836, died 20 February 1920, married William Gay Harris on 5 January 1854.
