Avary
John Avary lived on Kegg Creek in Columbia Co., having purchased on 29 June 1797, 200 acres from Hogget Collins for $400, which had been an original land grant to Collins on 17 Aug 1785. On 1 Jan 1799, Robert Flournoy of Jefferson Co. deeded to John Avery for $370, a tract of land, 244 acres on the waters of Loyd Creek, it being that part of my "Mountain Tract", lying to the right of the road from Augusta and Lamkins to Jennings, bounded by Lamkin, Courson, Lambecker, Parkes and Meriwether.
John Avary d. 1813 in Columbia Co., Ga., his LWT dated 15 Jan 1813, probated 9 Jul 1817, naming his children. Wife not named.

V. Asa Avary d. 1820, his LWT dated 10 Aug 1820, probated 26 Jan 1823. Named his sister, Patsy Welbourn, and brother, Archer Avary (to be trustee for his sister).
VI. John Avary d. 1827, his LWT dated 22 Feb 1827 probated 6 Apr 1827 naming wife, Nancy. Issue:
A. Elizabeth Avary.
B. Phoebe Avary m. Madison Avary 28 Jul 1838 Columbia Co. Her LWT dated 23 Jan 1880 probated 3 May 1886, naming her grandchildren: Phoebe T. Mercer, William Madison and Irene Flanigan. Father of children, James Flanigan, to give guardian "to my son Charles Avary".
