On the same
front page of the newspaper the following article appeared: "A very regrettable and painful accident happned to John, the 8 year-old son of Hon. and Mrs.
John Awtrey at their home on Kennesaw Avenue on Wednesday of last week. The boys were out in the yard with Roman candles. One that had failed to discharge had
been broken open, and in lighting it, it suddently exploded, the flash of the powder burning little John's face to a solid blister and burning off his
eyebrows. Dr. Reynolds was called and gave immediate attention, and while the injuries are painful, yet the prospect is bright for a speedly healing, without any marks
on the face." |
