Atkinson of Morgan County

Atharates Atkinson, born 1845 in New Hampshire where he was a marble merchant before settling in Georgia to produce marble, locating close to a nearby quarry. He was married to, Sibbie E., the daughter of William A. Morecock (born 1805 in Georgia), born 1847 in South Carolina. Issue:

• Annie B. Atkinson, born 1873 in Madison County.
• Adiel S. Atkinson (son), born 1876 in Madison, Georgia.
• Susan M. Atkinson, born 1878 in Madison, Georgia.

Atharates Atkinson built his home in Madison ca 1841, which was known as the first home in Morgan County.
