Druid Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta
Organized in 1914. There were two original pastors, Dr. F. C. Connell from Jan 1915 to 1929 and Dr. Louie E. Newton from 1929 to 1934.
Pioneer settlers were: W. P. Callaway, C. F. Cantrell, C. G. Childs, E. D. Crawford, W. N. Edenfield, W. D. Greene, C. W. Hunter, L. P. Keheley, Duncan McKinley, C. J. McCoy, J. H. McCoy, M. F. Morris, H. W. Nichols, Edgar Oliver, Ben R. Padgett, Hardy Padgett, S. J. Shefield, F. L. Steedman, C. V. Strickland, J. L. Turner, W. E. Upchurch and E. S. Vickery.
In 1918 the church purchased a lot fronting 190 feet on Ponce de Leon Avenue at Highland Avenue and constructed a building. In 1928 the church was completed.
