Lewis of Greene County



Walker Lewis, son of Richard Lewis and his wife Caroline (Booker) Lewis, was born 23 Sept 1774 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and died 9 May 1860 in Greene County, buried in the Hill Lewis Cemetery.[1] He was married on 10 June 1798 in Greene County to Mary Graham, born 8 Oct 1777, died 3 Nov 1851.[2] Issue:

The LWT of Walker Lewis dated 1-6-1852 in Greene County named wife, Mary, to whom he bequeathed the homestead; his son, Theophilus children, land in Forsyth County; grandson, James Walker Lewis; daughter, Alenath Braddy, wife of John Braddy; daughter, Cynthia Smith; daughter, Sarah Wright; son, Cephus Lewis; son, Josiah Lewis; son, Miles Walker Lewis; granddaughter, Sarah Lewis. Executors: Wiley Wright, James Jackson, Cephas Lewis, Josiah Lewis, Sr. and Miles Walker Lewis, Sr. Cephus Lewis to be the guardian of said Walker Lewis granddaughter, Sarah Lewis.

[3] Greene County Will Book F, page 252, LWT of Zacheus Wright dated 5/7/1840 named wife, Araneth Wright, to her bequeathed 300-400 acres of a farm and slaves which he had purchased from his father-in-law, Walker Lewis. Children to be raised on the farm.
