Madison County Genealogy Records

Madison County, TennesseeHistory. Madison County was formed in 1821. It was named for founding father and United States President, James Madison. The county was part of lands the acquired by the United States from the Chickasaw Nation in 1818. However, it was not until the passage by Congress of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 that ost Chickasaw were forced out of the state and sent west to Indian Territory beyond the Mississippi River. The family seat is Jackson.
