Lauderdale County Genealogy Records
Lauderdale County was created in 1835 from parts of Tipton, Dyer and Haywood counties. It is located on the western edge of Tennessee bordering the Mississippi River. It was named for Lieutenant Colonel James Lauderdale, who was killed at the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812. County seat: Ripley.
