Greene County was formed in April 18, 1783 and is located in East Tennessee.
It lies between the Unaka Mountains on the south and Bays Mountains on the North. The Nolachucky River and its tributaries of Lick Creek, Little Nolachucky, Horse Creek and Camp Creek is the main stream. According to the early last wills and testaments there was a population of Scots and Germans. During 1790 Quakers began migrating in the county from Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
